Can you wash football gloves?
Yes! Most football gloves are made of lightweight synthetic material. Football gloves (like cycling gloves) can either be washed by hand or on a very delicate washing machine program. However, it is not recommended to wash them too often as this will cause wear.
Here is a short guide on how to wash your football gloves. This way of cleaning them will cause the least amount of wear.
Total Time: 10 minutes
Soak your football gloves in warm/hot water for 10 minutes
First, you want to soak your football gloves in hot water and leave them in for about 10 minutes. This will loosen up all the dirt and stains in the gloves.
Wash your gloves using green soap or a liquid detergent
Either hand wash your gloves (recommended) or put them on a very gentle washing machine program. If you are using a washing machine set the rpm to a low number like 1000 – 1200.
Scrub any leftover dirt from your football gloves
If there are spots where the dirt sticks to the glove you can use a light brush to remove them. Just be gentle and don’t wear the fabric by scrubbing too hard.
Let your gloves dry on a clothesline
Finally, let your football gloves air dry. It is important to not put them in the dryer as this will certainly damage the gloves. Either let them rest on a flat surface or let them hang dry on a clothesline.
